You Can't Have Just Five

Subtitles/Alternate Titles:

Five is Not Enough
The Mommy Lost More Marbles
We're Blaming it on Noir and Brian
We've Got Introoders - and They're Permanent!
New Kids on the Block
And Then There Were....Seven?!

The Kitty Krew proudly introduces the newest members (yes, plural) of our not-so-little family!

This is Gypsy, the kitty-formerly-known-as-Tamara; a 1-year old dilute calico female:

And this is a still-to-be-renamed kitty currently-named Thor; a 6-month old white/tabby mix male:

We're blaming Noir because he and his beanmom, Tommy, posted last week about a cute little Siamese girlcat that needed a new home. The Mommy called about her but the end result was that she's being adopted this weekend by someone who called earlier than The Mommy. The Mommy was happy she was getting a home and not overly disappointed to miss out, after all, she had 5 of us already, right?

And then late Wednesday, Brian posted about his new sister that they are adopting. And so it made The Mommy start thinking some more (always a dangerous thing!), and she got on the website of a local no-kill shelter and was looking at their kitties. Uh oh! She went up there after work on Thursday, and came home with Gypsy and "Thor". Like we needed two more rugrats around here.... Sheesh.

She needs some help with re-naming "Thor" though. We've got a naming 'thing', with all our names ending in 'y' or 'ie'; for the eldest of us (Bugsy, Sassy and Callie), it wasn't intentional. For Roxy, it kind of was; for Pixie it definitely was. Some possibilities for "Thor" include Ripley, Ozzy or Ziggy. The first syllable of the name should also be good for using as a nickname (Bugs, Sass, Cal, Rox, Pix, Gyp/Gyps (okay, that one doesn't work quite so well)). Anyone have any other suggestions?

We'll have more photos of the two new kids on the block in the coming days. Please join us in welcoming them!

PS - Happy Halloween to everyone! The Mommy never got around to doing any costumes for any of us for any of the costume contests (sheesh!), so we really didn't have much to contribute for the mystique of the day today anyway...we trust you'll forgive us for instead intro'ing our new family members to everyone.

Finally Friday

October is almost at an end...Roxy is checking out the sunset...and we're finally posting a 'tocks photo (more-or-less)...on Finally Friday.

Have a good weekend and a safe Halloween, y'all! Don't forget to set your clocks back an hour on Saturday night or Sunday, for those of you in the U.S. and elsewhere for whom it applies!

Triple Triple Shot Thursday

Frequent bloggie visitors have heard how rare the Quintuple Cat Crown Jewel is (getting all 5 cats in one photo -- it's happened twice in the last two months, but both were pure luck and there are no other known photos before those two...though admittedly, the number of photos taken BB, Before Blogging began, is much less than AB, After Blogging began). The Quadruple Grouping is almost as rare. Singles, of course, are easy; Double Dips are almost as easy, though it doesn't by any means indicate that we are getting along or laying together as friends - it just means we happen to be in the same photo or laying in/near the same spot.

Triple Shots...ah, now those fall somewhere in the middle. They're not near as rare as the Quintuples and Quadruples, but not quite so frequent as the Doubles. Today for your viewing pleasure, The Kitty Krew presents a triple shot of Triple Shots for a Triple Triple Shot Thursday...

Hmmm, we see a trend there. Notice how Pixie is in every one? It's not so much that he's so friendly and lovable to all us other cats (really, he's the pest of the family, always picking on us all!)...we think it's that he just has to be in the middle of everything.

Tortie Tuesday

Hi peoples! Time again for Tortie Tuesday. Today, I'm going to show off my biscuit-making skills - something every self-respecting tortie (and, really, every self-respecting kitty of any brand) should know.

The secret, as I show here in my how-to video, is lowering your head as you work so you can not only get your shoulders into it as you go, but also so you're in perfect position for a nap when you're done!

See how easy it is? Try it once or twice, and in no time, you too will be making biscuits like a pro!

Gotta go, it's time for me to make a few more biscuits now...

Bye peoples!

Mancat Monday

Whisper soft beds, with jungly cat patterns...

Tweety bird boogie mats, with catnip aroma...

Scratch posts with cardboard and naps on the floor...

These are a few of my favorite things!

Finally Friday

Hi peoples! Yes, it's Finally Friday. Has this been a long week for everycat else, or just us? (Or just The Mommy? Teehee...)

Today, I'd like to post about an award I received from my lovely friend Angel from A Wizard and An Angel. Last week, she picked ME ME ME out of all the girlcats here at The Kitty Krew to receive the Island Princess award! Yay me!

Thanks so much, Angel! How do I look in my tiara?

Now, I've done my best to find princesscats that have not yet received this award to give it to; if you already have gotten it and I missed it, so sorry...but just figure you must be double-deserving! So I'd like to give it to the following:

1. Lola at The Paw Relations
2. Paddy and Briti at Cats in Trees
3. Asia and Cosmo at Pet Meadow
4. Tesla at The World of Hansel
5. Penny at Cat of Nine Tales

As Angel said when she passed the award to me and others, "Wear your crown proudly, girls!"

~~~
Several of you were wondering about the photo from Wordless Wednesday, exactly how high up I was, and where The Mommy was to take it. Well, it's a bit of an optical illusion. Bugsy is on the kitchen floor, and I'm just up on the edge of the kitchen island (remember? We have an island! I *do* deserve to be an Island Princess!), and The Mommy is just standing normally on the floor, right up next to the island near me. So I'm only a few feet above Bugsy. It just looks like he's way way wayyyyyyyyyy below me!
Bye peoples!
Roxy's Gotcha Day
It's Roxy's Gotcha Day! Four years ago today, on October 22, 2005, at the tender young age of approximately 7 weeks, Little Miss Baby Doll became a permanent indoor resident of what has become known as The Kitty Krew. Here she was on that very day (you might recognize this first one as the photo we use for our avatar):
Well, here I am...
So, now what do we do?
Are you going to keep following me around with that flashy box thing?
I'm pretty sure I don't like that flashy box thing...
Wasn't she adorable? Of course, she still is now, too.
To celebrate four years of Roxy love, we're having a big party for all the kitties and woofies and everyone/critter else of the blogosphere! We have chicken and ham and stinky goodness and nip and Temptations and Greenies and niptinis (milk only for the kittens!) and oh, all sorts of other stuff. Plenty of toys to play with, and lots of good napping spots when you feel the need for a break.
So come on over and join the fun!!
Tortie Tummy Toesies and Tail Tuesday
Hi peoples! Callie here for Tortie Tuesday. We hear that it's going to be a beautiful fall day here today, and we haven't had too many of those. It's been somewhat of a chilly rainy fall mostly so far. And as it happens, another rainy front is headed this way tomorrow. *sigh* That means we haven't gotten to go outside much lately, and pretty soon it'll be too cold to get to go out at all until spring.
It's already pretty much too dark to get to go out by the time The Mommy gets home from that work thing, so we only get a chance to at all on the weekend. It's just not fair! *whine whine whine* (For those concerned and/or new to the blog, we only get to go out for about an hour at a time, carefully snoopervised by The Mommy, so don't worry too much about us roaming or getting in trouble or lost.)
Oh well. Guess I'll just have to stay inside and look cute by showing my tummy and toesies and tail - and make it a Tortie Tummy Toesies and Tail Tuesday!
Bye peoples!
PS - The Mommy was feeling pretty wiped out after going back to the work thing yesterday so we're still behind on visiting our friends. We hope to get caught up today, and thanks for understanding!
Mancat Monday
Bugsy: Are you feeling better, Mommy?
The Mommy: Well, mostly, Bugsy. Still a little icky, but I'll live.
Bugsy: That's good, Mommy. Who would feed us if you didn't?
The Mommy: *sigh* It's good to know you care, Bugsy.
Bugsy: I'm just kidding, Mommy. We're all glad you feel better. We did our bestest to purrrrrrr you all better.
The Mommy: I know you all did, Bugsy, thank you. You kitties were wonderful to me. And thank you too to all our friends who stopped by our bloggie to wish me well.
Bugsy: We have good bloggie friends, don't we, Mommy? We love you, Mommy.
The Mommy: I love you all too, Bugsy.
Bugsy: Now feed me...
Sicky Saturday
Hi peoples! Well, The Mommy's been flu-y this week, so we haven't been visiting our friends as much as we usually do. At least our posts were mostly pre-dictated to her last weekend, so we got those mostly done afore she got too sicky.
But we're probably not gonna get much visiting done this weekend, she's said she's gonna be a turnip...why would anyone want to be a turnip? Wait, what's that? Oh, I see, she's gonna veg out on the couch for most of the weekend. That makes more sense. She's also got an exterminator coming to get rid of her flu bug! Wait, what's that? Oh, he's coming to spray for inside and outside bugs, not her flu bug. Well, why can't he exterminate the flu bug while he's here? That would make sense to me...
So anyway, we probably won't be seeing y'all much this weekend. So y'all have a great weekend, and we'll see you on Monday! And don't worry, we'll take good care of The Mommy.
Hamper Time!
You multiple cat households, be wary...you can be laying around on the bed after the Folding and Putting Away of the Laundry, minding your own business, when all of a sudden...it happens. Out of nowhere, comes the sneak attack from....The Hamper...
