Now you see it...
Now you don't...
Yes, that's right, the cone is gone. I'm no longer a conehead!
There's actually a story involved here. The Mommy took the cone off on Tuesday night (the photos above); the v-e-t dood said to keep it on 5-7 days, and Tuesday evening was 5 full days not counting Surgery Day. And The Mommy said then that the swelling had mostly gone down around the stitches and nothing was leaky or anything, and I hadn't shown any inclination to scratch or paw at my eye (or lack thereof), but my itchy ears were driving me crazy. So she thought it would be okay to take the cone off (and she had to "pose" me in the photos 'cause I wouldn't cooperate - teehee!).
First thing I did was scratch at my ears. Then it was baff time since I hadn't been able to do that for days neither.
The Mommy watched me close all evening to be sure I didn't try to scratch at my eye. She never saw me do that, but saw that I was bleeding just a teeny bit from one or two of the scabs; she thinks I was over-grooming and caused the scab(s) to come loose. She couldn't tell if any stitches came out, and didn't want to poke and prod too much.
So the cone went back on after just a couple-three hours of freedom.
And THEN, she came home from work on Wednesday, and I greeteded her at the side door -- without my cone! She apparently didn't tie it back on as tight as the v-e-t did, and I managed to get it off. (She has no idea how long I had it off, and I ain't gonna tell her!) She didn't see any more new bleeding around my eye, so said the cone can stay off for now. (And I still looked fine this morning, too!)
*Sigh* I'm so happy to have that dang cone off. Next up, the stitches come out on Saturday. The Mommy warned me that if she catches me scratching or pawing at my eye again, though, the cone's going back on -- tighter -- until Saturday when the stitches come out. I'll be good, Mommy, I pwomise! Cwoss my heart.
Thank you for letting me keep the cone off, Mommy. I wuv you.

I'm so happy Bugsy is able to have her cone off! I know he feels so much better that he doesn't even realize he's missing one eye! And yes, as other people have mentioned, he can be cuddled now! And sleep like a baby with his head on a pillow or your lap!
This is a happy day!!! YAY!
Linda :)
Oh it is so good that your eye is healing well and you were able to have the cone off! I always wondered how it worked to have one on - how you eat and things like that, but it never occured to me that you couldn't take a bath either - that must have made you crazy! We are keeping our paws and fingers crossed that nothing happens to make you have to have the cone back on before you are back to the vet!
We are very happy you got rid of that silly cone. Now you look like a real pirate and can make anyone who disagrees with you walk the plank.
Look at that tongue! I am so happy for you!
Oh Bugsy! I'm so happy you got your cone off, but don't hurt yourself, baby -- be careful. That's quite some tongue you've got there! I guess it's getting a lot more action now. I'm just glad you're recovering so quickly, and will be will well with you!
I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better! That cone must have been very annoying!!
No scratching! But thank Cod the cone is off!!
Oh Boy!!!!!!! You look great without that cone :) Bet it feels great too. After Saturday, you should be good to go and not have to worry about that vet anymore for a bit :) Thar will be nice :)
