'Wards Wednesday

We've recently been fortunate to receive a couple of awards from our blogging friends, and wanted to mention them here and thank our friends for sharing them with us!!

First, from Sammy and Andy, and also specifically to Pixie from Ernie at The Island Cats, we received The Versatile Blogger award.

There are 3 rules that go along with this award:

Rule 1. Thank the person who gave it to you.

Thank you very much, Sammy and Andy!!!! We love you guys, and your mamabug too. And to Ernie from Pixie, you rock, fellow House Panther! Thanks, dude!

Rule 2. Share 9 things about yourself.

1. If Pixie or Ziggy are chasing Roxy, Gypsy will run over and get in the middle of things - not necessarily to help either side, but just to get in on the fun.

2. Sassy loves to sleep on top of the chest of drawers in the bedroom - so much so that The Mommy finally gave up and put a soft blankie on the top for her instead of having anything else on top.

3. Our sweet Callie angel used to lay on the bathroom counter while The Mommy got ready for work. Ziggy and Bugsy sometimes will get on the counter, but they never just lay there and wait and watch like Callie used to do.

4. It's a good thing we have lots of places to sleep, 'cause none of us like to cuddle up very close together.

5. We all like to drink out of the kitchen faucet so The Mommy keeps it running a bit all the time in addition to having two water bowls. Bugsy and Sassy don't as much as all the younger kitties, though.

6. All of us except Gypsy like to take our turns curling up on The Mommy's lap. Gypsy still isn't very affectionate, although she will let The Mommy pick her up and pet her for a few moments, and sometimes rub against her leg.

7. Pixie absolutely loves to be picked up and held and petted, just like a baby.

8. Gypsy loves to be given treats and any time The Mommy even looks like she might possibly be walking towards where the treats are kept, Gypsy will run over there and sit by the container and meow and meow and meow.

9. Roxy sleeps under the couch a lot 'cause she has to hide from Pixie and Ziggy, who like to chase her. But as long as The Mommy is home, she's usually out and around.

Rule 3. Pass the award along to 9 bloggers who you think are fantastic.

Well, we think everyone is fantastic and we really hate choosing. And we know a lot of you have already gotten this and are quite frankly too lazy to see who has and who hasn't. So if you've already gotten it and we're giving it to you again, it's a compliment! We'd like to give it to:

1. Attie Cattie (and Audrey too)
2. Brian and all his sisters at Brian's Home
3. The Fuzzy Tales gang
4. The incomparable Fin
5. Our new friends at Katnip Lounge
6. The rascally Milo and Alfie
7. Neighbor Noir along with his family
8. Floofy Sweet Praline
9. All the kitties at The Creek Cats

Our second award was received from our friend Down Under, Miss Huffle Mawson, the Happy Cat Award! Thank you so much, Huff.

The rules say we have to list six things that make us happy, then pass this award on to six of our friends.

Since there are six of us, we'll each list one thing that make us happy:

1. Bugsy: Sleeping on a window perch in the window

2. Sassy: Being up on top of the kitchen cabinets away from Pixie

3. Roxy: Laying on The Mommy's lap

4. Pixie: Drinking from the kitchen faucet

5. Gypsy: Getting treats

6. Ziggy: Playing with twistie ties or pieces of cardboard on the kitchen floor

As with the other award, we're sure there are many who have already gotten it and we're not sure who has and who hasn't without checking, which we didn't. So if you've already gotten it...welllll, you can just not do the game part. We're going to pass the award on to:

1. Deli and Sammy at The Monkeys
2. All of The Island Cats
3. Inigo and Rumblepurr
4. Our friends Tasha, Franklin and Dobby at Mishkat (bonus happy thing, that they're blogging again!)
5. The lovely ladies at Jacqueline's Cat House, Calle, Halle & Sukki -- and Mommy and Daddy too!
6. Eric and Flynn

Whew! That's a lot of 'warding on Wednesday. It's time for naps now...

Superior Scribbler Sunday

Our wonderful friends, Milo and Alfie, received the Superior Scribbler Award earlier this week, and they were sweet enough to pass it along to us! Thank you, boys, that was so very nice of you.

The Superior Scribbler Award was started by The Scholastic Scribe to celebrate their 200th post. To read more about the Superior Scribbler Award click HERE.

As with every award, there are some rules that need to be followed:

1. Each Superior Scribbler (SS) must pass the Award on to 5 deserving blogger friends.

2. Each SS must link the author and name of the blog from whom he/she received the award.

3. Each SS must display the award on his/her blog and link to the post which explains the award.

4. Each SS is asked to visit the post which explains the award and add his/her name to the Mr. Linky List.

5. Each SS must post these rules on his/her blog.

Like everybody else, we hate following rules, but we will. We'd like to give it to everyone of course, but we can't (darn rules!), and we'd like to give it to someone who hasn't already gotten it, but this award has been flashing through the Cat Blogosphere like crazy lately, so we're not exactly sure who has already gotten it. So we'll just take our best shot at giving it to 5 of our blog friends and if it's a repeat for you, that just means you're doubly deserving!

So we're giving it to:

1. Brian's Home - for Brian and all the girls

2. Cats in Trees - even when they don't say much, they say a lot

3. Cory Cat Blog - for Cory and all the gang

4. Ginger Jasper - we heart GJ

5. Fin - the confident Housecat Confidential

Now if you'll excuse us, we're going to go nap the rest of this Sunday away...

PS - we think you kitties are absolutely right about Callie being with us in spirit for the photo posted yesterday; in fact, we can just see her, there on the carpet near the pink puff bed, laying on her back with her belleh just begging to be snorgled.

Finally Friday

Hi peoples! Yes, it's Finally Friday. Has this been a long week for everycat else, or just us? (Or just The Mommy? Teehee...)

Today, I'd like to post about an award I received from my lovely friend Angel from A Wizard and An Angel. Last week, she picked ME ME ME out of all the girlcats here at The Kitty Krew to receive the Island Princess award! Yay me!

Thanks so much, Angel! How do I look in my tiara?

Now, I've done my best to find princesscats that have not yet received this award to give it to; if you already have gotten it and I missed it, so sorry...but just figure you must be double-deserving! So I'd like to give it to the following:

1. Lola at The Paw Relations
2. Paddy and Briti at Cats in Trees
3. Asia and Cosmo at Pet Meadow
4. Tesla at The World of Hansel
5. Penny at Cat of Nine Tales

As Angel said when she passed the award to me and others, "Wear your crown proudly, girls!"

~~~
Several of you were wondering about the photo from Wordless Wednesday, exactly how high up I was, and where The Mommy was to take it. Well, it's a bit of an optical illusion. Bugsy is on the kitchen floor, and I'm just up on the edge of the kitchen island (remember? We have an island! I *do* deserve to be an Island Princess!), and The Mommy is just standing normally on the floor, right up next to the island near me. So I'm only a few feet above Bugsy. It just looks like he's way way wayyyyyyyyyy below me!
Bye peoples!
Thrilled Thursday
We did it! Our funny little post on Sunday about being Island Cats -- due to our kitchen island -- was deemed to be clever enough by The Powers That Be (otherwise known as Wally, Ernie, and Zoey, The Island Cats themselves) to earn us honorary membership in The Island Cat Club!
Now, we're just honorary members, not full/real members, but we're just so darn pleased and thrilled that they thought enough of us and our little humorous contribution to cat society, that we can hardly see straight. After all, we live in the interior of mostly land-locked Texas, not exactly a hotbed of island activity once you get past the coastal areas, and so we never expected this honor at all.
We will display this badge with pride not only in our Trophy Room, but also over there on the side bar on the front page. Thanks so much, Wally, Ernie and Zoey, we really are thrilled!
Friday Medley
To end the week, we have an assortment of this-and-that for your reading pleasure...
~~~

On Monday, our friend Jasmim gave us an award:

This translates to "This Blog Makes Me Happy". Thank you, Jasmim!

The rules for this award are:

1 - Post the blog that gave you the award
2 - Post 5 things that make you happy
3 - Pass the award to 5 other blogs

So, 5 things that make us happy. We've done something similar with each of us picking one thing since there are 5 of us, but this time we'll just do 5 things that make us all happy.

1. Going outside! (Carefully snoopervised, of course...)
2. If we can't go outside, then sitting in the window seats with the windows open makes us happy as a close second. We don't get chased back inside that way 'cause we're already inside!
3. Napping wherever we want, but especially on The Mommy's lap or close to her.
4. Playing with our catnip toys.
5. Running to greet The Mommy when she gets home from that work thing.

It's always hard to choose who to pass awards on to, but we prefer to do that rather than just give it to everyone. So even though we love everybuddy, we'd like to give this award to:

1. Cats in Trees
2. Pet Meadow
3. Eric and Flynn
4. JB's Small World
5. Cory Cat Blog

~~~
The Mommy wanted to share with you another seller she found on Etsy. She got some really pretty cards from Patti Waltz Artwork; she was really taken with the kitty silhouette, moon and stars, and pretty blue coloring of this card.
The Mommy had some really nice conversations with Patti, and may have talked her into eventually starting a kitty blog for her kitties! The world needs more kitty bloggers.
~~~

The Mommy's looking forward to getting Bugsy from the cancer v-e-t this afternoon and bringing him home for the weekend after he's been boarding there all week for his first week of radiation treatments. After all, tomorrow is Meow Like A Pirate Day, and Bugsy with his one eye is a natural for it! Arrr...

(Of course, Bugsy then goes back to the cancer v-e-t on Monday for another week of treatments -- still 2.5 weeks, or 13 treatments, to go -- but at least he'll be home for a couple of days!)

~~~
And to round out the post and get your weekend started, how about another pretty photo...this is from The Mommy's Tuesday evening drive home:
Happy Friday, y'all!
Wordy Wednesday
As if we weren't wordy enough on Sunday, we're going to be officially wordy again today. But maybe slightly more interesting than the food and litter report. Maybe.
First off, last Friday our new friend Madi gave us the "Oops I Ate It" award. Thank you, Madi!
The rules for this award are:
"When accepting this award you must blog about the food you have stolen when your humans weren't watching. If you have never stolen any food, you must be a very good pup or kitty. You can accept this yummy tray of cookies as your reward!!! Next add the logo of this award to your blog (optional), then nominate at least 5 other furry blogs and let them know by leaving them a message on their blogs."
Well, honestly, most of us don't try too hard to steal food. The Mommy doesn't give us human food as a general rule, so we don't have enough of a taste for it to try and steal it. Oh, we might sniff around when things smell good, but we rarely try and grab it. Pixie does like to get into the milk glass when she's not looking though, so he's probably the most successful at stealing her milk. And Bugsy may have gotten away with a slice of bacon once. But it's not so much that we're very good, we just don't really care.
We don't think this award is very wide-spread yet, so we'd like to give it to the following kitties (if you did already get it, then just ignore us and we're sorry we missed seeing it on your bloggie!):
1. Angel and Kirby
2. Eric and Flynn
3. Dante, Domino and Dylan at Wendy's 3-D Cats
4. Thomas, Charlie and Lola at The Paw Relations
5. All the kitties at Team Tabby
~~~

We were tagged by our friends Ernie, Wally and Zoey at The Island Cats to play The Awesome Game - give 7 reasons why we’re awesome, and tag 7 others to play too! Okay, let's see what we can come up with...

Bugsy: I'm awesome because I've had not one but two surgeries this summer for two different problems, and I haven't let it faze me one little bit. Other than hating the v-e-t visits, I'm still running around the house, getting on top of cabinets and other hiding places, and playing pretty much like normal. I'm Bugsy the Pirate and I can't be stopped!

Sassy: I'm awesome because I have such pretty silky gray furs, I live up to my name with my sassy attitude, and I have a great yawn roar!

Callie: I'm awesome because I can keep my tortie gorgeousness in tip-top shape with minimal grooming - I'm just naturally beautiful!

Roxy: I'm awesome because in addition to of course being a beyond-cute calico, I've figured out the best way to hoard some of the catnip toys!! They're mine, mine, alllll mine!!!!!

Pixie: And I may be the youngest of The Kitty Krew, but I'm the most awesome of all....because not only am I a cool black house panther kitty, but I can also fit my head in this hole in the side of the scratcher thingy! It's way fun to play with the toy inside that way!

For our last two things, we'll give group thoughts. First (sixth? MOL), we're awesome because we're smart enough to have joined the kitty blogging world so we could meet all you neat fun kitty bloggers, and we have made so many great new friends all over the world! That's been way super cool.

And last but not least, we're awesome -- as so many of our kitty blogging friends are -- because we have a loving Mommy and a great furever home where we can live safely with plenty of food and someone who will take care of us when we need it. We luv you, Mommy.

Okay, let's see who we can tag. We know several others have played this already so if we missed/forgot it and name you here, then please just ignore our forgetfulness!

1. All the kitties at Noir's Nook (you kitties should have enough for one each and one group reason!)
2. Tuck (after all, he's nearly a Mancat and this could be like his final exam... MOL!)
3. Milo and Alfie (Alfie will be a Mancat next week too! But Milo, you play also!)
4. Gandalf, Grayson and Whitey (all 3 of you!)
5. Mickey's Musings (all 3 of you too!)
6. Rumblebum (this is for both of you!)
7. Scooter/Kool-Kittie-Krew (Hey cousins! All of you play!)

~~~
Whew! We really do type too much. We need more Wordless ____Day posts or you guys are gonna get tired of us! Teehee!
We're outta here for now, though. Bye peoples!
Thursday Things
This, that and the other on a thoughtful Thursday...
So, the window perches were a big hit yesterday! Indeed, I do spoil my kitties rotten as much as I can; they're worth it. To answer a couple of questions that came up in the comments: No, I didn't make them, I bought them (I ain't that talented ). Don't remember where exactly, might have been eBay actually. They're almost like this one but I won't swear it's exactly the same. They have the same kind of eggcrate foam underneath the sheepskin covering that that linked one apparently has.
On another question, the pictures show the use of two different perches; Bugsy, Sassy and Roxy were in the left-hand den window perch, and Pixie and Callie were in the right-hand den window perch (obviously not at the same time ). I don't think I have any pictures of any of them in the front living room window perch (which is the same kind, just a different window and view), although it does get used; just not as much. They really are good at sharing and taking turns!
~~~
Now, I'm afraid I must confess and disappoint you kitties, and let you know that, despite my kids' best efforts, the loud noisy vacuum monster did in fact get unboxed, assembled, and - yes - USED this past weekend. They were devastated. But to show again what a good Mommy I am and how much I spoil them, I then weighted down the box, resealed it and put it back where it had sat for 10 days. Why, you may ask? Well, Bugsy especially had grown very fond of napping on top of it. I mean for hours at a time. And he, as well as Pixie and Callie, seemed to enjoy using it as a ladder to be able to look around the curtain of the door's window (as shown in Callie's Tuesday post) to see what's going on outside on that side of the house. Not to mention, how cute has it been to come home and be greeted with a kitty face peeking at me out of the curtain as if to say "Oh hai, Mommy! Welcome home!" So...at least for awhile, it'll stay there (not like I'm using that space for anything else anyway!).

~~~
Woke up this morning to dark skies, rumbly thunder, and rain. As I was warm and comfy under the covers, it really made me wish I was a cat and could just yawn, stretch, and turn over for another nap. Alas, I had to get up for the "work" thing...
~~~
And last, but certainly not least, our dear friend Jasmim has given us the "Blog Like a Pearl" award - thank you so much!

According to Jasmim and her mom, the words on the picture translate to: "Your blog is like a pearl, rare, delicate and charming."

That's so pretty! The rules for this award are:

1. Post the link of who sent you.
2. Submit to 6 blogs that you think is a pearl and emotion.

I do so hate choosing who to give awards to (I like everyone!), but I also don't really like to fall back on the "hey, anyone take it" option either. So I guess I'll give this to the following peoples (but everybody, know that we love you all!):

1. Baby Patches
2. Daisy the Curly Cat
3. The Island Cats
4. Hansel and Tesla
5. Cory Cat Blog
6. Ginger Jasper

~~~
Enough ramblings for today. If only the weekend would get here a little faster!
Mommy Monday
The kitties are generously giving me Monday to make a post; worked out well for an "M" on Monday too, since we already had things lined up for Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
So Katie at Mishkat tagged me to do a personal thing; I can "either (1) post 7 facts about yourself AND photos OR (2) post 10 facts about yourself with no photos, OR (3) post a childhood picture of yourself." (She was doing a combo of all 3 due to being tagged by different people.) Well, I hate posting photos of myself, and I can't find a childhood picture handy (who has all of those I wonder? my mom or my brother or my sister?), so I guess I'll go with (2).
1. Although I'm divorced now, when I got married back in 1993, we got married on a riverboat out in the middle of the Ohio River between Ohio and West Virginia. His family lived there and couldn't come to Texas, where we lived, for a wedding, so I figured if I was going up there for a wedding and it was going to be small, I was going to do something fun and different.
2. I've visited many states in the U.S., but I've only lived in two states, Texas and - briefly - Florida.
3. My mom taught me to read when I was 3 or 4 years old and I've been a reader ever since. When I was in 1st grade, I was reading at the 4th grade level, and had special permission to check out school library books from the "big kids" section.
4. I've worked with the same boss for nearly 18 years, although we're at our 4th employer (improving firms as we've gone).
5. I've only been out of the U.S. one time, for my honeymoon to Puerta Vallarta. Oh wait, twice - when I went to San Diego one time with my sister, we went across the border to Tijuana, Mexico, just to say we had been. But that was so short, I'm not sure it really counts.
6. I still remember my address and phone number from when I was 5 years old, even though we moved to another town hundreds of miles away that year. My mom and dad must have *really* drilled it into me.
7. I've only ever been called for jury duty one time in my life (even though I'm duly registered), and that was just after I moved from Texas to Florida so I couldn't serve anyway since I wasn't in Texas any more.
8. I've worn glasses since I was 2 years old, other than a couple of years here and there after having specific surgical procedures. But my eyes are too goofy for the lasik type procedures.
9. Just this past week I applied for a passport for the first time in my life, as I may have to travel to Canada for work soon. And who knows, maybe I'll go wild and take a trip overseas some day! At least it'll finally be possible without that being a cause for delay.
10. I like bright colors and jewel tones, but I'm not much into browns, oranges, or earthy tones.
Okay, so now you know some goofy things about The Mommy! I'd like to tag the moms behind the following bloggies - whose names I don't even know - to play along. But if you don't feel comfortable doing so, then please don't feel any pressure. It's just a fun thing for those who want to.
1. Daisy and Harley's mom
2. Parker's mom
3. Hansel and Tesla's mom
4. The Crew's mom
5. Reese's mom
Even though Katie's rules were combining three different tagging games, we'll just go ahead and carry them all forward. So remember, you must either (1) post 7 facts about yourself AND photos OR (2) post 10 facts about yourself with no photos, OR (3) post a childhood picture of yourself. Or not do any of them if you don't feel comfortable.
~~~~~
This just in, yesterday we were given two awards, and I just want to do a quick mention and thank you for those; later in the week we'll do the following-of-the-rules and passing-on-to-other-blogs thing.

From Loki, we received the ""Blog of the Estimaçã" award, which they received from Jasmim. I have some trouble sometimes with online Portuguese-to-English translators, and I keep getting "estimation" for "estimaçã". Not sure that (when coupled with the rules as they're translated) makes complete sense to me, but we appreciate it nonetheless!

Then, from Eric and Flynn, we received the Kreativ Blogger award, which they received from Ginger Jasper.

So thank you Loki, and Eric and Flynn, for those awards! We appreciate so much those that visit and read us, and leave comments (and even those that don't ), and getting awards is just icing on the cake to let us know you like us! You really like us!

Happy Monday!

Sunday Smorgasbord

This and that on a lazy Sunday...

First off, The Mommy says thanks to everyone that gave food advice on the Friday Food Fest post. Some good info, very much appreciated!

~~~~~
Next, following up on a post from a few days ago about the death of the previous loud noisy vacuum monster, we're sad to report that a new one has arrived. We've come up with a good plan though...if we continually lay on the box, The Mommy can never unpack it to assemble and use it! Aren't we brilliant?! Okay, Callie and Sassy, you go first!
Now Bugsy, you take Callie's place!
It almost seems too easy...
~~~~~
A couple of days ago, Bugsy showed off his blue laser eyes, something not often seen but which he was inspired to do after seeing Milo's blue lasers when he was playing ornament cat. Now, we have something that we think might be even rarer, or at least something we've not seen so far out there in bloggie land -- gold laser eyes! Yes indeed, Miss Roxy is pleased to present her gold laser eyes just for you kind kitties and peoples!

~~~~~
Also, Pixie had a grand ol' time playing "hunt the spider" on Monday evening, tracking it across the kitchen floor, into the dining room and across the living room -- accompanied at various times by Bugsy and Roxy -- before finally losing it. Or losing interest, we're not sure which. If you bigify and look close, you can see the spider just a few inches from his paw.
~~~~~
Finally, if you're still with us, our friend Jasmim gave us the "Your Blog is Satin" award this past week. Thanks, Jas!

We're going to change the rules for this one just a little bit from what she listed though, as it included giving to 10 people (we're cutting it to 5, feel free to do more if you want) and also required a raffle/donation to someone needing help for kitty care in...Portugal?...not sure of the country, and that's difficult to do as a bank transfer from the U.S. and we're really not comfortable requiring anyone to pay anything for the award. We hope Jas understands, and that those folks get the help they need. So, with that, we're going with these rules:

1. List 5 details (things, people, features) that make your life "satin" (we'll translate this also as "shiny" or "good").
2. Pass on to 5 other bloggers that have not already won.

Our list is this (one for each of us!):

1. Bugsy says: Going outside!
2. Sassy says: Laying in a sunbeam.
3. Callie says: Napping on a hairy blanket.
4. Roxy says: Snoopervising The Mommy while she gets ready for that "work" thing in the mornings.
5. Pixie says: Being picked up and held like a baby by The Mommy while she gives me skritches (I'm the only one who likes to be held like that!).

We'll pass it on to these bloggers, none of whom appear to have gotten this yet (at the time the post was written anyway):

1. Samson and Delilah at The Monkeys
2. Tristan and Crikey
3. Ernie, Wally and Zoey at The Island Cats
4. PoppyQ
5. Huffle Mawson

~~~~~
So there ya have it, a little smorgasbord of things to round out the week...from all of us here at The Kitty Krew.
