Triple Shot Thursday

Now that winter is firmly here (we had a warm fall well through November, but it was also very rainy most of that time), we needed to remind ourselves of warm sunny days. This was probably the last day we got to go outside, one weekend in late September when Bugsy was home from cancer vet jail, before it got too dark during the week and too rainy or cool on the weekends.

So here's a triple shot of kitties on a Triple Shot Thursday...

(This post was pre-written over the weekend; overnight last night, we had an arctic blast move through with a wee bit of rain/ice, and the temp is expected to stay below freezing for the next couple of days, not that usual for this part of Texas...so more than ever, we miss the warm!)

Saturday Movie Review

The Great Outdoors, by The Kitty Krew

It was a beautiful early evening here at The Kitty Krew Headquarters yesterday, a little cooler than it has been (which means low 90s or maybe even high 80s by the time she got home, instead of high 90s or low 100s) with low humidity and a nice breeze, and The Mommy got home from that work place thing a little earlier than normal, and that all added up to an hour outside after she got home! Yayness!

She took some movies in addition to the usual eleventy million zillion photos with the flashy box thing, so here we are posting some again. The first one has Bugsy and Sassy, the second one is all Pixie, and the third is mostly Callie with a little Roxy. They're not all that exciting, and they're 3 minutes each which we know is a lot of time to spend at one bloggie for those of you with lots of blogs to visit and little time to do it all, so we'll understand if you don't have time to watch them all. But we also know that sometimes it's just fun to see moving kitties for a change (we know we like to). There's also not much soundtrack, a little of Bugsy meowing in his, and The Mommy talks a little but not much, and some dogs down the street barking a little -- but there's a lot of wind blowing across the microphone in the last two (sorry) so you may just wanna turn the sound down/off.

And with that, here we go! This is Bugsy to start with, and Sassy comes along:

This one is all Pixie:

This one has Callie and some Roxy (the lighting/video is a little wonky on this one, The Mommy lightened it so you can see Callie better when she explores in the bushes, and it affected the beginning especially a little weirdly):

Hope you enjoyed them a little bit! We sure enjoyed our time outside, it was a great evening to be out there.

Thursday Things

The Great Outdoors...with Bugsy the Pirate

Ah yes, I vaguely recall the outdoors (being transported to and from the v-e-t's in a cage doesn't count). This bit of grass and sidewalk seems familiar...

Oh yes, and all these bushes! I remember them!

I missed laying in the grass.

With a nice pause on the deck afterwards.

Mommy, I really don't like these 2-week-plus restrictions on not getting to go outside. Can we not have that happen anymore, please?

Srsly.

Thursday Things

This, that and the other on a thoughtful Thursday...

So, the window perches were a big hit yesterday! Indeed, I do spoil my kitties rotten as much as I can; they're worth it. To answer a couple of questions that came up in the comments: No, I didn't make them, I bought them (I ain't that talented ). Don't remember where exactly, might have been eBay actually. They're almost like this one but I won't swear it's exactly the same. They have the same kind of eggcrate foam underneath the sheepskin covering that that linked one apparently has.

On another question, the pictures show the use of two different perches; Bugsy, Sassy and Roxy were in the left-hand den window perch, and Pixie and Callie were in the right-hand den window perch (obviously not at the same time ). I don't think I have any pictures of any of them in the front living room window perch (which is the same kind, just a different window and view), although it does get used; just not as much. They really are good at sharing and taking turns!

~~~
Now, I'm afraid I must confess and disappoint you kitties, and let you know that, despite my kids' best efforts, the loud noisy vacuum monster did in fact get unboxed, assembled, and - yes - USED this past weekend. They were devastated. But to show again what a good Mommy I am and how much I spoil them, I then weighted down the box, resealed it and put it back where it had sat for 10 days. Why, you may ask? Well, Bugsy especially had grown very fond of napping on top of it. I mean for hours at a time. And he, as well as Pixie and Callie, seemed to enjoy using it as a ladder to be able to look around the curtain of the door's window (as shown in Callie's Tuesday post) to see what's going on outside on that side of the house. Not to mention, how cute has it been to come home and be greeted with a kitty face peeking at me out of the curtain as if to say "Oh hai, Mommy! Welcome home!" So...at least for awhile, it'll stay there (not like I'm using that space for anything else anyway!).
~~~
Woke up this morning to dark skies, rumbly thunder, and rain. As I was warm and comfy under the covers, it really made me wish I was a cat and could just yawn, stretch, and turn over for another nap. Alas, I had to get up for the "work" thing...

~~~
And last, but certainly not least, our dear friend Jasmim has given us the "Blog Like a Pearl" award - thank you so much!
According to Jasmim and her mom, the words on the picture translate to: "Your blog is like a pearl, rare, delicate and charming."
That's so pretty! The rules for this award are:
1. Post the link of who sent you.
2. Submit to 6 blogs that you think is a pearl and emotion.
I do so hate choosing who to give awards to (I like everyone!), but I also don't really like to fall back on the "hey, anyone take it" option either. So I guess I'll give this to the following peoples (but everybody, know that we love you all!):
1. Baby Patches
2. Daisy the Curly Cat
3. The Island Cats
4. Hansel and Tesla
5. Cory Cat Blog
6. Ginger Jasper
Enough ramblings for today. If only the weekend would get here a little faster!
Jungle Cats Part 2
The mighty panther jungle cat inspects the bush to ensure he has cleared it of all prey...
And then settles in below for a rest, baring his tongue and fangs to warn away other predators.
(The Mommy sez: Sorry the last pic is so grainy/blurry, it's *way* zoomed in, but that expression on his face is just so great!)
Jungle Cats
We are mighty outside jungle cats...hear us roar!
(Well...even a jungle cat has to curl up on his warm comfy blankie sometimes... )
Freedom!
Wee-sa free! Yes friends, after many many long endless weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeks (The Mommy sez: Uh kids, it's only been three and a half weeks...) of not getting to go outside, we *finally* got to go out again yesterday evening! The Mommy said that Bugsy's incision from his surgery had healed up enough for it to be safe for him to go out, and with a change in the weather pattern, the temperature finally cooled enough so we wouldn't immediately burst into little kitty balls of flame. (The Mommy sez: "Cooler" being a relative term...92 instead of 102 by the time I got home from work. That's practically an arctic cold front in Texas in July!)
While we all had a good time hanging out, eating grass, and rolling around on the concrete and in the dirt, Sassy particularly had fun attacking one bush:
While Pixie was doing the same to the one right next to it:
The weather is supposed to stay cooler for the next several days -- albeit with threats of isolated thunderstorms most days -- so we hope to get some more chances to get out before it gets hot again. And also before Bugsy gets grounded again; his eye surgery is on Thursday, so he'll no doubt be on "no outside" restrictions again after that for awhile, which means so will the rest of us...
Have a great weekend!
Bugsy's Babble
So...if I lay here by the side door long enough and often enough, maybe The Mommy will let me outside again! I haven't been outside in *WEEKS*. Using the blue laser eyes (thanks for the tip, Milo!) instead of green might help, too...
[10 minutes later...]
*Sigh* Then again, maybe she won't. Guess I'll go nap on the hairy blanket instead...it's rough being me.
Callie's Chatter
Hi peoples! It's Tortie Tuesday so here I am in all my tortie goodness, hanging around on the teevee stand thingie.
The window perch is a great place to nap, as well as see what's going on outside when The Mommy won't let us out there to see it on our own.
It's been a little cooler the past couple of days, but we still can't go outside 'cuz Bugsy is still gettin' better from his surgery (and it's not fair if the rest of us go out if he can't).
Speaking of Bugsy, he had a bit of a setback over the weekend. Nothing too major, but The Mommy discovered on Saturday morning that he'd popped his stitches on his belly and she freaked a bit to see a hole in his belly (wouldn't you beans?). So after calling the V-E-T's office, who said to wrap his belly (are they kidding her? YOU beans try wrapping a kitty's belly!) and bring him in on Monday, she kept an eye on him over the weekend to make sure his guts didn't come falling out and back he went yesterday to get his belly stapled rather than stitched this time. Turns out he also has an inner set of stitches on the bladder where the surgery was done, and those are fine and healing well. So even though a hole in his belly isn't really a good thing, it wasn't as bad as The Mommy was imagining. He didn't have to stay overnight so is back home already and laying in The Mommy's lap as she types this for me.
That's all for me for today, Tortie Tuesday. Bye peoples!
Mommy, I'm Home!
(The Mommy's lap is the bestest place to be!)
Hi peoples! Bugsy here, and yes, I'm home from the V-E-T. The Mommy picked me up late yesterday afternoon and once we got home, I was in one of my favorite places shortly thereafter -- her lap!
I'm doing pretty good, moving a little slow but otherwise all seems to be okay. The Doc said that the stone from my bladder was kind of funky looking so he's sending it off for tests, but it'll be a few weeks before they come back. He's not overly worried about it, just wants to be sure there's nothing weird going on. My stitches will come out next Friday and I won't be able to go outside again until after that. Oh well, The Mommy says it's too hot right now anyway. (The Mommy: It's in the 100s for the next several days, Bugsy, that's wayyyyy too hot for you kitties to go outside. You'll be much more comfy inside, trust me!)
Thanks again everyone/cat/dog for all the purrs and purrayers and headbutts and grrrs and hugs and everything, I just know that they all helped me so much! And The Mommy appreciates them all too. (The Mommy: Yes I do, more than I can possibly say.) You cats and dogs and beans are the bestest!
Oh! And thanks so much to Peggy's Place for giving me this nifty award as a welcome home after my surgery. Very cool!
Well, I think it's time to go take another nap. Bye peoples!
Pixie's Ponderings
Hi peoples! The Mommy let us go outside for awhile on Friday evening, and I went into fevver-hunting mode. I even went up in the tree after one that Callie and I wuz stalking! Bigify this picture and you'll see me as the little black blob where the arrow's pointing:
Unfortunately, it flew off to the mailbox by then (which you can also see in the bigified picture if'n ya look close). But here I've spotted another one, on the roof of the house:
I'm on my way to take care of it!
Judging the distance so I can pounce...
Ready to take the leap to the roof...
Aw, darn, he moved away before I could jump!
Well, even though he got away, I can still chatter at him and show him who's the boss!
It was a fun time!
Gotta go now, bye peoples!
Pixie
PS - Check me out over at The House Panthers today, too! I'm everywhere today!!!!
Bugsy's Babble
Hi peoples! Well, I'm the only kitty who hasn't blogged yet -- as far as I can tell we saved the best for last! I'm Bugsy, and I'm a littermate brother to Callie and Sassy so that makes me also 5.5 years old (well, a little more than that, we'll be 6 in less than 4 months). I'm gray with white on my face, chest, belly and paws, and The Mommy says my coloring reminded her of Bugs Bunny so that's where my name comes from.
You already know the story of how we came to be inside kitties from Callie's story so I won't go over it all again. We're just happy to be inside spoiled kitties, although I really like to go outside and explore when The Mommy lets us. But first, here's a kitten picture of me from when I was just a few weeks old. We only have a couple and it's not as good as Sassy's, but here ya go:
Look at that filthy kitty bed I was playing around in out in the garage! But I still was a cute little kitteh. Like I said though, I really like to go outside, and don't get to go out nearly as much as I'd like. The Mommy has to keep a close eye on me when she does let us out, I'm the one voted Most Likely To Wander Too Far Away, and Most Likely To Ruin It For Everyone Else by going too far and annoying her enough with the required cat-herding that she just finally makes us all go inside. But here I'm being a Good Boy last Saturday evening and laying up on the porch, checking things out:
Unfortunately for me, I've been to the V-E-T too many times the past 5 weeks. I went originally to get my shots (I was first), but haven't even gotten those yet cuz we also had to check out what we thought was a bladder infection. Long story short, after having to have this liquid stuff forced down my throat every day for nearly 4 weeks (I hate that almost as much as being forced in the cage thingy and the car rides!), turns out I don't have a bladder infection - I have a bladder stone! Took a few trips to the V-E-T and me not cooperatin' to give a pee sample (can I help it if I was skeered and peed when I wuzn't s'posed to?) and the V-E-T dood finally thinking to do an x-ray to figger this out. Now I gots to have an operashun to have the stone taken out. That'll happen in a couple of weeks.
If that weren't enuff, and you'd think it would be, The Mommy had also noticed this brown pigment showing up in one of my eyeballs. The regular V-E-T dood said it looked not good and I should go to an opta...opfa...optha...eye doc for animals -- I didn't even know they had those! Well, that meant the cage thingy again AND an hour long car ride! It was awful. Not to mention the additional poking and prodding and holding my eye open and the flashy thingy when he took pics of my eyeball. And it turns out I have a toomer in my eyeball, a kind that's almost always a Bad Thing, and I guess the best way to make sure it doesn't turn into a Worse Thing by spreading cancer into other parts of me is to take it out...the eyeball, that is. So I guess later in the summer after we get the bladder stone thing taken care of, I'm gonna be losing my right eye. I've heard tell that kitties can do really okay with only one eye, and even with no sight, so I'm trying to be really brave about it, but I'm still pretty skeered. I know The Mommy is too. She sure doesn't like having to do this, but she doesn't want me to risk getting sick with cancer in other places, either, since I'm still such a young mancat.
Well, I didn't mean to be such a downer kitty today, so let's end things on a high note by telling you some of my nicknames. My extra special just-for-me nickname is Dearheart, and I also am called Bugster, Bugs, Bugsy Lou, Bugsy Doodle, Buggy and Bug.
I think I'm done for today. Bye peoples!
