Bugsy the Pirate

The great news is that Bugsy the Pirate is home. As expected, he's a cone-head for the next 5-7 days...and boy does he hate it. We've been home a couple of hours now, and he walks around the house (1) bumping into things with the edge of the cone/collar because he's not used to the extra width (hmmm, should I put a "wide load" sign on him?), and (2) stopping suddenly and backing up, as if he can get the thing to come off that way. Tricking it to come off, yeah, that's the ticket!

Otherwise, he's kinda nervous and anxious in his walking around, not ready to settle down in one place yet. He'll lay down for a few minutes, then get right back up and wander some more. I'm sure he'll settle down for a nap soon enough, though. He did eat a little bit, until Pixie came along for a good sniff of "Eau d' Vet". As you'd expect the other kitties have been cautiously approaching to see just what's different (the smells! the cone! the...hey, dood, where's your eye?!).

Here's a short video I took...if'n it works/posts correctly. This is my first video on a post! Watch out world, a monster may have been created...and I ain't talking about the kitty with the stitches....

And a couple of pictures (don't look if you're squeamish!):

Hopefully things will all settle down here in awhile and Bugsy will get adjusted to the new sight and the (temporary) wide-load cone.

Toodles!

Oh man! We've been thinking about Bugsy all day! We are SO happy he is home now and seems to be doing well. We can unnerstand about that collar thingey...we wouldn't wanna wear it either...mom sez they make soft e-collars...not sure where you can buy them but it's a just a thought if Bugsy doesn't do well with that cone thingey...

We even looked at the pictures...we didn't get to squimish..they aren't so bad...but we're with Tristan and Crikey...maybe a pirate's patch is in order??? We think Bugsy would like that! Heehee!

Welcome home Bugsy. We are glad everything went well for you.Everything will seem a bit strange at first but you will soon get used to it. Mum had a one eyed cat many years ago and it didn't bother him one bit.

Look how happy Bugsy is to be back home! We are so thankful his surgery went well and we purray his recovery is short and uneventful!

We have heard about inflatable e-collars. Apparently they are more comfortable. Maggie had to wear the plastic one and hated every minute of it. She was so small, the smallest one kept falling off of her. Hopefully Bugsy will get used to his and not even notice it!

Welcome Home Bugsy!!!

So glad Bugsy is home and moving about. It must be hard to adjust to the stitches and the cone but he sure does look lovey-dovey.

We're so glad Bugsy is home and it was lovely to see him ~ although his pitiful little cries made us want to smooch him better.
We're sure he will adjust in time and it must be horrible wiv that cone on his head.
We think he deserves EXTRA treats.

Love, ((((((hugs))))) and purrs from us.

Greetings to Bugsy from our one-eyed uncle Mosje. He says people should always pet you on the left side first, so they don't startle you.
And a lot of well wishes from us. Hope you can get rid of that cone soon. Fashionwise you can wear a lot, but this is a bit too much.

Welcome home Bugsy! Don't worry big fella, the cone will soon be gone and you will enjoy your new view of the world.

Our Mum loves Bugsy's chirrups!

Stay chilled Bugsy dude!

We're really glad to see that Bugsy is home! And we hate those Elizabethan collars too - we are sure he will be very relieved to get it off.

His eye does not look bad to us at all. We still think he looks very handsome. And Tasha says she agrees with Mosje about approaching from the left side for a while.

Hugs and purrs from
Tasha, Franklin, Dobby, and Katie

P.S. the video looks great! We enjoyed it.

Poor Bugsy! His mewing just broke my heart. He actually looks much better in the video than he does in that close up with the stitches, though. I think it's the lighting.

He seems a bit disoriented -- likely the combination of the collar and the loss of the eye. However, I'm sure he'll be back to normal quite soon. As I've said -- kitties ability to adapt is amazing!

Hugs and Kisses from the 3-Ds and me, Bugsy-Boy! You're a real trooper!

Oh I have been waiting to see how Bugsy was doing! That was a really good video, by the way, & helped me get to know him a little better too! Bugsy is still beautiful as ever and he does look like a furry Pirate!! :) There is just one thing, he's just more cute that's all! Lot's of love and attention and he will be just fine! Kitties adapt very quickly to such things. Once the cone is off he will be so relieved he won't even know he has just one eye because he'll be able to see so much better than with a cone! So I think the cone is a good adjustment. My heart also goes out to you "MOM"! You have to be very strong to go through this with him. I just am so happy Bugsy is healthy again and will be with us to enjoy for a very long time!
Please give him a big hug for me.
Our prayers have been answered! Now the hard part is over, then the cone comes off, and it's smooth sailing!
Many purrs to you and Bugsy! I hope you keep us posted!
My kitty Kenzie told me to give him a huge Purr and MEOW for him too. I think she has a crush on him as he looks so... manly now! ;)
She told me to tell you that Bugsy deserves many treats and new toys to play with!!!
WELCOME HOME BUGSY!
Linda & Kenzie :)
