Bugsy's Babble

Hi peoples! Well, I'm the only kitty who hasn't blogged yet -- as far as I can tell we saved the best for last! I'm Bugsy, and I'm a littermate brother to Callie and Sassy so that makes me also 5.5 years old (well, a little more than that, we'll be 6 in less than 4 months). I'm gray with white on my face, chest, belly and paws, and The Mommy says my coloring reminded her of Bugs Bunny so that's where my name comes from.

You already know the story of how we came to be inside kitties from Callie's story so I won't go over it all again. We're just happy to be inside spoiled kitties, although I really like to go outside and explore when The Mommy lets us. But first, here's a kitten picture of me from when I was just a few weeks old. We only have a couple and it's not as good as Sassy's, but here ya go:

Look at that filthy kitty bed I was playing around in out in the garage! But I still was a cute little kitteh. Like I said though, I really like to go outside, and don't get to go out nearly as much as I'd like. The Mommy has to keep a close eye on me when she does let us out, I'm the one voted Most Likely To Wander Too Far Away, and Most Likely To Ruin It For Everyone Else by going too far and annoying her enough with the required cat-herding that she just finally makes us all go inside. But here I'm being a Good Boy last Saturday evening and laying up on the porch, checking things out:

Unfortunately for me, I've been to the V-E-T too many times the past 5 weeks. I went originally to get my shots (I was first), but haven't even gotten those yet cuz we also had to check out what we thought was a bladder infection. Long story short, after having to have this liquid stuff forced down my throat every day for nearly 4 weeks (I hate that almost as much as being forced in the cage thingy and the car rides!), turns out I don't have a bladder infection - I have a bladder stone! Took a few trips to the V-E-T and me not cooperatin' to give a pee sample (can I help it if I was skeered and peed when I wuzn't s'posed to?) and the V-E-T dood finally thinking to do an x-ray to figger this out. Now I gots to have an operashun to have the stone taken out. That'll happen in a couple of weeks.

If that weren't enuff, and you'd think it would be, The Mommy had also noticed this brown pigment showing up in one of my eyeballs. The regular V-E-T dood said it looked not good and I should go to an opta...opfa...optha...eye doc for animals -- I didn't even know they had those! Well, that meant the cage thingy again AND an hour long car ride! It was awful. Not to mention the additional poking and prodding and holding my eye open and the flashy thingy when he took pics of my eyeball. And it turns out I have a toomer in my eyeball, a kind that's almost always a Bad Thing, and I guess the best way to make sure it doesn't turn into a Worse Thing by spreading cancer into other parts of me is to take it out...the eyeball, that is. So I guess later in the summer after we get the bladder stone thing taken care of, I'm gonna be losing my right eye. I've heard tell that kitties can do really okay with only one eye, and even with no sight, so I'm trying to be really brave about it, but I'm still pretty skeered. I know The Mommy is too. She sure doesn't like having to do this, but she doesn't want me to risk getting sick with cancer in other places, either, since I'm still such a young mancat.

Well, I didn't mean to be such a downer kitty today, so let's end things on a high note by telling you some of my nicknames. My extra special just-for-me nickname is Dearheart, and I also am called Bugster, Bugs, Bugsy Lou, Bugsy Doodle, Buggy and Bug.

I think I'm done for today. Bye peoples!

Bugsy

You poor dear! We're so sorry that you've had so many health problems. We agree that it is probably best that you should have the eye operation to keep anything else from showing up. Maybe you can wear a neato patch:)

Oh Bugsy, you really have had a tough time of it lately. I felt much better after I had my bladder-stone surgery (after a few days of recovery that is). I'll bet you will look like a daring pirate after your eye surgery!

Please let us know before you have your surgery so we can send our best purrs for you!

Oh no! poor Bugsy. We are sorry to hear about your eyeball, but it seems you will be much better off without it.When our mum was young, she had a kitty who came indoors one day with one of his eyes all bashed up. They think he was kicked by a cow and the V E T had to remove the eye.He got on just fine with only one eye. He was called Patch, and that was his name before he even lost his eye.

Wow Bugsy, that's a very rough couple of weeks! We agree with your Mom and the vet that it's probably better for the eye to come out and it's true that there are lots of kitties who are okay like that but we still are purring for you to get better soon! After all this is over, you'll be a beautiful healthy Mancat!

Hi Bugsy! We are sorry to hear that you've had to go to the V.E.T. so often. We have some cat friends who both developed that brown pigment in their eyes and had to have one eye each removed. They are both doing very well now - so we're purring for you, Bugsy! And Tasha has only one good eye and she says it's no problem for her, except for a few depth perception issues.
